Most of this year’s annual Colours Of Yarraman festival was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic … but not all of it.
After gathering public feedback, the Yarraman Progress Association decided the popular Garden Competition could go ahead largely as usual.
However, the only people who had the chance to see the entries this year were the competition’s entrants and the judges who picked the winners.
Progress Association president Joe Stimpson said most of the festival had to be cancelled “with great reluctance” due to COVID-19 restrictions.
But the Garden Competition went ahead because it could be run under Health Department guidelines.
Joe said the competition’s entrants had put in many months of effort to get their entries into top shape and organisers felt those efforts deserved to be recognised, even if the audience that saw the results was smaller than usual.
