Good rainfall in certain parts of the South Burnett saw yard numbers reduced to 600 at Murgon’s fortnightly sale on November 3, but the market remained solid throughout.

Cattle were drawn from Mundubbera, Gayndah, Mt Perry, Durong, Kingaroy, Nanango, Kilkivan, Woolooga and the Murgon district.

Sale results:

  • Heavy Bulls topped at $3.16/kg and $2600
  • Heavy Cows over 500kg sold to $3.20/kg and $2100, averaging $3.07/kg
  • Cows 400-500kg topped at $3.24/kg for a $3.02 average
  • Lighter Cows under 400kg topped at $2.98/kg
  • Export heifers topped at $3.58/kg and $1920
  • 423kg Hereford Steers from Manumbar sold to $4.12/kg for $1744
  • A draft of Charolais steers from Mt Perry averaging 340kg sold to a top of $4.42/kg for an average of $4.35/kg and $1480
  • 382kg Droughtmaster steers from Crownthorpe sold for $4.40/kg to return $1680
  • 384kg Droughtmaster steers from Murgon sold for $1614 and $4.20/kg
  • Santa cross weaner steers sold to $1215 at $4.50/kg
  • Droughtmaster weaner steers from Hivesville sold for $1108 at $4.57/kg
  • Two pens of Blonde cross weaner steers from Woolooga sold for $4.61/kg and $4.89/kg, returning $1170 and $978, respectively
  • 215kg Droughtmaster weaner steers sold to $4.70/kg for $1014
  • Brangus weaner steers from Nanango sold for $1080 at $4.50/kg
  • Light Charolais cross steers from Kilkivan sold for $5.42/kg and $650
  • Droughtmaster weaner steers from Tansey sold for $810 at $5.22/kg
  • Two pens of Droughtmaster/Charbray heifers from Merlwood sold for $3.89/kg and $3.80/kg, returning $1636 and $1545
  • Charbray heifers from Nanango sold for $4.19/kg ($1461.00) at 348kg and $4.15/kg ($1293.00) at 311kg
  • Charbray weaner heifers from Manyung sold for $4.42/kg to return $894
  • Droughtmaster weaner heifers sold for $978 at $4.17/kg
  • Light Charbray heifers from Jimna sold to $4.60/kg and $636
  • Two pens of local Brangus weaner heifers sold for $4.56/kg at $849 and $630
  • Charbray weaner heifers from Boondooma sold for $692 at $4.44/kg
  • Brangus Cows & Calves from Nanango sold to $2600

The next Murgon sale will be held on Tuesday, November 17 at 8:00am.
