Applications are now open for the 2021 Red Earth Community Leadership Program.

Aspiring and experienced leaders from the South and North Burnett areas have been encouraged to apply for the annual program.

Usually a free face-to-face information session is held so interested applicants can find out more about the program.

But this year, like so many other meetings, it will be held on Zoom from 7:15pm next Monday night (October 12).

“Past participants will share more about the program and some of the insights they have since had,” Red Earth Community Leadership Program organiser Georgie Somerset said.

The 2021 program will consist of two residential sessions at the Bunya Mountains – in February and March next year – which aim to develop leadership skills by equipping participants with practical tools to use in everyday situations.

“Over the past seven years we have had participants from all walks of life: industry, government, the community sector, cultural and sporting groups, as well as agriculture and natural resource management,” Georgie said.

“Some have been long-term residents of our region, while others are new. The program is designed to develop the personal effectiveness of each individual, so your background and experience is only one component, and people don’t need to be in a traditional ‘leadership’ role to benefit.

“Now more so than ever, regional Australia needs to nurture and support our leaders in our local communities.”

Course facilitators Pam McAllister, from McAllister Leadership, and Heather Ellis, from Blue Wren Connections, will be taking part in the Zoom information session.
