South Burnett Saints have finished in fourth spot on the Allied Pickfords Cup ladder after the final round of fixtures competition was played at the weekend.

The men’s team travelled to Dalby to take on the Swans and emerged victorious against their hosts.

The win brought the Saints’ ladder for the shortened season to 20 points, equal to third placegetter Coolaroo but just behind on for / against.

Saints led at every change during Saturday’s game and finished 11.10-76 against Dalby’s 6.8-44.

South Burnett goals were kicked by Kyron Tunstall (3), James Packer (2), Daniel Clacy, Ben Pressnell, Matthew Patroni, Robert Goodwin, Benjamin Moller and Keegan Wright.

The Saints’ women travelled to Toowoomba for their game against the South Toowoomba Bombers.

The Bombers had a strong second quarter, kicking three goals, which gave them an advantage for the rest of the game.

The final score was South Toowoomba 7.10-52 to South Burnett 4.6-30.

Saints’ goal kickers were Kiara Wright, Abbey Templeman, Keeley Walker and Brianna Pogany.

South Burnett Saints will be hosting Week 1 games from the finals series at Lyle Vidler Oval in Kingaroy on Saturday (September 19).

As well as the Men’s and Women’s games, the club has been the granted the hosting rights for the Under 12s and Under 14s games:

  • Under 12s – 9:30am – Coolaroo v Dalby Swans
  • Under 14s – 11:10am – Toowoomba Tigers v Dalby Swans
  • Women – 12:50pm – South Burnett Saints v Goondiwindi Hawks
  • Men – 2:30pm – South Burnett Saints v Dalby Swans

Other Week 1 games will be played at Rockville Park in Toowoomba:

  • Under 12s – 9:30am – South Toowoomba Bombers v Toowoomba Tigers
  • Under 14s – 11:10am – South Toowoomba Bombers v Coolaroo
  • Women – 12:50pm – Toowoomba Tigers v South Toowoomba Bombers
  • Men – 2:30pm – Coolaroo v Warwick Redbacks

NB. All games played in Kingaroy are Elimination Finals, ie. sudden death. The winners will go through to the Preliminary Finals. The Grand Final will be played in Toowoomba on October 3.
