Maidenwell residents have been invited to have their say about the construction of a new waste transfer station for the town.

Currently, a series of bins is set up behind a small screen of shrubs in a pull-off area beside Kingaroy-Cooyar Road.

South Burnett Regional Council allocated $350,000 for a new Maidenwell transfer station in its 2020-21 Budget.

A preliminary public consultation session for local residents will be held at the Maidenwell Memorial Hall from 6:30pm on Tuesday, September 15.

A Council spokesperson said the meeting would provide an introduction to the project.

It would be seeking input from the community towards proposed locations for the new facility.

“Please be advised that COVID-19 restrictions will be applied to this meeting,” the spokesperson said.

“Registration for attendance is compulsory to ensure capacity requirements are complied with.

“Residents are requested to contact Council on (07) 4189-9100 by 4:30pm on Friday, September 11, 2020, to register to attend.”
