Goomeri Pumpkin Festival co-ordinator Kim Boyter has been named one of Gympie Region’s two 2020 Senior Citizens of the Year.

Kim is well-known for her work with the Pumpkin Festival but also helped create the Goomeri Gourmet and Twilight markets.

The second Senior Citizen of the Year named on Friday was Theebine community volunteer Bevan Day.

Bevan has been active in many community organisations, including the Theebine State School P&C, Probus Gympie and the Theebine Hall Committee.

Gympie Regional Council announces the annual Senior Citizens of the Year awards as part of Seniors Week (August 17-25) activities.

They recognise a man and woman aged over 60 who have made a significant contribution during the past year to the Gympie region.
