A motorcycle rider suffered a serious leg injury in a single-vehicle crash on the Blackbutt Range on Monday.

Emergency services were called to the incident, between Benarkin and Moore, about 12:15pm.

The RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter was also despatched to the scene.

Traffic on the highway was delayed while paramedics attended to the injured man – aged in his 30s – who is believed to have crashed into a guardrail.

A LifeFlight spokesperson said the man had been travelling with friends.

The pilot of the Sunshine Coast-based helicopter was able to land the aircraft in a clearing near the crash scene.

The rider was airlifted to the Princess Alexandra Hospital in a stable condition, under the care of a LifeFlight critical care doctor and a QAS flight paramedic.

  1. This was my husband. We just wanted to say a huge thank you to all of the paramedics that acted so quickly to give him the best chance of keeping his leg. He also mentioned the many members of the public who stopped to assist and is extremely grateful to them.

He has a long road in front of him but we are so so grateful to still have him.
