Tuesday morning’s blackout across the South Burnett was triggered by safety equipment cutting in.
A spokesperson said Ergon Energy Network and Energex were carrying out work on a substation in the Kingaroy area to increase the network capacity for future large-scale solar generation and improved network reliability when safety protection equipment was activated.
This caused an outage that lasted for about one hour from 10:20am.
The outage affected about 21,000 customers in Nanango and Kingaroy and other areas fed from the substation.
About 6000 customers in the Nanango area had their power restored about 11:00am and the remainder around Kingaroy about 11:20am.
