The final Ag Network meeting under current funding arrangements will be held virtually on Zoom on Thursday (July 23).

The North Burnett and South Burnett Ag Networks have been meeting quarterly since June 2017 as a way to network primary producers with industry representatives, agencies, support organisations and government departments.

All sessions that have been held since October 2019 have been funded by the State Government’s Reef Water Quality Program, through the Burnett Mary Regional Group.

Ag Network meetings have been held throughout the region, including Durong, Kumbia, Eidsvold, Biggenden, and Murgon.

“We have hosted an array of guest speakers who have talked on a variety of topics,” Ag Network Extension Officer Sarah Shaw said.

“Drought feeding, stock-route management, reef regulations, and utilising technology have been some of the topics that we’ve talked through and unpacked further in our sessions.

“A huge thank you must go to our guest speakers who have presented at the sessions and also to the support agencies that travel with us throughout the Burnett Inland, in making sure that information and support is reaching our primary producers in regional areas.

“In April, we achieved another milestone by delivering our first session online.

“Despite the impact of COVID-19 restrictions, it was wonderful to connect with our producers, support agencies and government departments via the Zoom platform.

“It was a great opportunity to test our technology and explore how Ag Network events can be delivered effectively for our geographically dispersed agriculture community.”

Thursday’s Ag Network meeting will include a session on cool burns and an opportunity to meet the region’s new Regional Recovery Officer.

“We warmly invite our rural community to join us online for this session and encourage you to ‘tap someone you know on the shoulder’ to connect for this session as well,” Sarah said.

The Zoom session will open at 5:15pm and the meeting will kick-off at 5:30pm.
