More than 1100 cattle were yarded in Murgon on Tuesday (July 14) for the fortnightly liveweight sale.

Values were slightly softer for all descriptions.

Cattle were drawn from Biloela, Mundubbera, Gayndah, Mt Perry, Biggenden, Durong, Nanango, Kingaroy, Kilkivan and the Murgon district.

Sale results:

  • Bulls topped at $3.16/kg and $2960
  • Bullocks sold to $3.60 for $2025
  • Heavy Cows over 500kg topped at $3.05/kg and $1850, averaging $2.73/kg
  • Cows 400-500kg sold to $2.85/kg for a $2.50 average
  • Cows under 400kg topped at $2.59
  • Export heifers sold to $3.57/kg and $1950
  • 420 Charolais steers sold to $3.63/kg for $1525
  • Simmental steers from Wooroonden weighing 492kg sold for $3.59/kg to return $1770
  • Droughtmaster steers from Proston sold for $1400 at $3.50/kg
  • 340kg Brahman steers sold to $3.50 and $1203
  • Two pens of Charolais weaner steers from Brigooda sold for $1171 ($4.01) and $1009 ($4.05)
  • Charolais cross weaner steers from Durong sold for $4.22/kg to return $1060 and $867
  • Droughtmaster weaner steers from Goomeri sold to $4.09/kg and $925
  • Charbray weaner steers from Goomeri West sold for $3.80/kg and $981
  • Braford weaner steers from Gayndah sold for $3.79/kg for $1011 and $848
  • Light Charbray steers from Gayndah sold for $4.19/kg to return $702
  • Hereford heifers from Manumbar sold for $1513 at $3.20/kg
  • 330kg Brangus heifers from Gayndah sold for $1089 at $3.30/kg
  • Local Romagnola cross heifers sold to $3.27/kg for $1083
  • Angus cross weaner heifers from Windera sold for $693 at $3.38/kg
  • Charolais cross weaner heifers from Brigooda sold for $728 and $3.76/kg
  • 182kg Brangus heifers sold for $3.60/kg to return $658
  • Charolais cross heifers from Kilkivan sold for $629 and $3.56/kg
  • Cows and calves sold to $1500
