The annual Weaner Sale in Murgon last Friday saw 900 quality weaner steers and heifers yarded

Pratt Agencies’ annual Weaner Sale last Friday saw 900 quality weaner steers and heifers yarded.

No sign of the dry weather before and after Christmas was evident in the condition of the calves.

The yarding averaged $3.88/kg overall, with steers averaging $3.94/kg and heifers $3.53/kg.

Cattle were drawn from Gayndah, Johnstown, Tansey, Goomeri, Mt Perry, Cloyna, Mondure, Nanango, Biggenden and Murgon.

Sale results:

  • Four pens of Charbray steers from A & R Barsby of Tansey sold for $4.32/kg to average $1275, topping at $1437
  • The Davies family of Kilkivan sold Charolais steers for $1353 at $4.36/kg
  • Charolais steers on account of G & J Zahl of Gayndah sold for $1260 and $4.37/kg
  • M. Smith of Gayndah sold Charbray steers for $1323 ($4.28) and $1184 ($4.26)
  • Charbray steers from T. Court of Goomeri sold for $4.30/kg to return $1137
  • Charolais cross steers from Bandamill at Johnstown sold for $4.26/kg to return $1117 and $847
  • The Nichol family of Mt Perry sold Charolais steers for $930 and $848 at $4.26/kg
  • Three pens of Charbray steers from Willbourne Enterprises sold for an average of $925 at $4.07/kg, topping at $1122
  • 226kg Simmental cross steers from The Beddows family of Cloyna sold for $4.20/kg and $953
  • Three pens of Brangus steers on account of R and D Warren of Mondure sold for $3.90/kg, topping at $1140 and averaging $1061
  • D. Smith of Gayndah sold Brangus steers for $983 at $3.94/kg
  • Two pens of Charolais heifers from Gayndah sold for $3.88/kg to return $1163 and $1022
  • M. Smith of Gayndah sold two pens of Charbray heifers for $1108 ($3.87) and $1003 ($3.80)
  • Two pens of Charbray heifers from A & R Barsby sold at $3.88/kg for $1127 and $1041
  • Bandamill sold Charolais cross heifers for $937 and $780 at $3.80/kg
  • Brangus heifers on account of the Warren family sold for $902 at $3.66/kg
  • Charolais cross heifers from Biggenden sold for $3.61/kg to return $988 and $773
  • Santa cross heifers from L. Graham of Johnstown sold for $804 at $3.46/kg
  • Red Angus heifers on account of the Sippel family of Murgon sold for $936 and $3.42/kg
  • Brangus heifers from PM Family Trust of Nanango sold to $766 at $3.50/kg
  • Koobooda Grazing of Gayndah sold Brangus heifers for $3.64/kg for $710 and $630
  • Light Santa cross heifers sold for $571 at $3.70/kg

Due to current restrictions, judging of the cattle has been postponed to the June weaner sale being held on Friday, June 19.
