There are now 781 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Queensland, up 40 from Tuesday.

A Queensland Health spokesperson said the numbers could fluctuate daily, which is why this is figure is inconsistent with yesterday’s total.

Seven of these patients are in intensive care units.

Darling Downs Health region has had 37 confirmed cases – up six from yesterday.

Wide Bay Health region has 18 – steady with yesterday.

The exact locations of these cases have not been disclosed.

Metro North (216) and Metro South (188) still have the largest number of confirmed cases, followed by the Gold Coast (148) and Sunshine Coast (79).

Contact tracing is underway for the 40 new cases.

As at 6:00am on Wednesday, there had been 4707 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Australia, up 348 since 6:00am yesterday.

The most confirmed cases are in NSW (2182) followed by Victoria (917).
