Toowoomba Regional Council is temporarily stopping plant giveaways until further notice.

CEO Brian Pidgeon said the decision was based on advice provided by the government and community expectations about social distancing.

“During this unprecedented coronavirus COVID-19 health event, we must abide by the advice given to us by the State and Federal Governments,” Mr Pidgeon said.

“The decision will mean that all plant giveaways scheduled for March and April 2020 at Ramsay Street Nursery Toowoomba, Oakey and Millmerran are postponed until further notice.

“If you are yet to use any of your free plant vouchers, keep hold of them.  All vouchers can be redeemed for your free plants as soon as Council’s plant giveaway programs recommence.

“Council is not removing the service; only temporarily ceasing plant giveaways in response to community sentiment and health guidelines.”
