Darling Downs Health has confirmed one new case of COVID-19 coronavirus in the health service area.

The case is a returned traveller being managed by Toowoomba Hospital.

This takes the number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the Darling Downs Health region to seven.

The Darling Downs Hospital and Health Service region includes the South Burnett but also stretches south to Stanthorpe, north to Taroom and west to the Balonne area.

On Sunday afternoon, Queensland Health confirmed there were Queensland 38 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Queensland, raising the State total to 259.

The patients consist of 22 men and 16 women between the ages of 19 and 76.

As well as the Darling Downs case, one of the new cases is in the Wide Bay Health region.

The exact locations have not been disclosed.

The other new cases are in the Metro North Health district (16), Metro South (6), Gold Coast (4), West Moreton (4), Sunshine Coast (2) and overseas/interstate (4).
