The South Burnett Rugby League Centenary Dinner – due to be held at Kingaroy Town Hall on April 4 – has been postponed due to COVID-19.

SBRL president David Tierney said the decision was made on Friday morning.

“The decision was not made lightly however given the dynamic nature of the COVID-19 situation, it was made to ensure that the event, when held, is an event befitting such a momentous achievement for rugby league in the South Burnett,” David said.

“Since making the decision to postpone the event, it has been confirmed that Kingaroy has its first case of the COVID-19 virus.

“Given the current climate, a decision won’t be made on the new date until more is known.

“In the meantime, if you wish a refund, contact the club or person from whom you bought your tickets for details. These will be processed as soon as possible.

“We apologise for any inconvenience regarding the postponement of the dinner.

“However, we want to be able to provide an event that such an achievement deserves and, more importantly, to ensure the health of those that attend – neither of which we believe could happen given the prevailing conditions.”
