The Kingaroy Lions Club shared more than $41,000 with local community groups, Lions projects, the Royal Flying Doctor Service and LifeFlight Foundation during the past year.

The announcement was made at the club’s recent changeover dinner.

The money was made by members assisting at community events and through running the annual Kingaroy Lions Trail Ride, which is held near Kingaroy each May.

This year, more than 900 riders took part in the Trail Ride, and many brought their families with them.

Lions’ members – assisted by other local service clubs – catered for them from Friday night until Sunday lunch, sourcing nearly all their supplies locally.

The money generated by the Ride was shared with eight other non-profit groups who helped at the event.

The two biggest individual donations the club made were to the Royal Flying Doctor Service and LifeFlight, which provide emergency medical transport to the region.

A LifeLight Foundation representative attended the dinner to thank the club.
