Kingaroy Rotary members believe they have broken a club record … serving up more than 400 sausages to hungry workers in an hour.

The club volunteers were in action at Tarong Power Station on Thursday morning, catering for contractors involved in the Unit 4 shutdown.

The breakfast was part of a safety fair for the workers.

“A group of us travelled to Tarong at 5:00am to cook up and serve over 400 sausages on bread to a lot of hungry contractors at the site,” club spokesman Ray Pitt said.

“We had been asked supply and serve 800 snags in two shifts, one at 6:30am and the other at 5:30pm.

“Unfortunately a storm in the afternoon halted proceedings and the event terminated due to the weather

“Still, it was the largest amount of sausages we have ever had to serve in an hour. Something of a record for us.”

The contractors, working on the shutdown of Unit 4, had gathered together for a mini safety fair.
