September 29, 2019

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services are holding an Open Day with the theme “Stronger Together” at various locations across Queensland on Saturday (September 28).

A QFES spokesperson said this was an opportunity to say “hi” to local fire and emergency crews, thank them for their efforts in fighting recent bushfires and learn how to prepare for bushfire seasons.

Station tours and help on how to prepare a Bushfire Survival plan will be offered from 9:00am to 11:00am at:

  • Blackbutt Fire and Rescue Station, 72 Hart Street
  • Wondai Fire and Rescue Station, 82 McKenzie Street

On Friday, October 11, the brigade will be holding a free “Be Prepared For The Big One!” information evening at Maidenwell Hall in Pool Street.

The evening will get underway at 6:00pm with a free sausage sizzle, followed at 7:00pm with a presentation covering bush fire safety, action plans and care for animals.
