A talented young Kingaroy artist is the latest in a string of local students who have had their works featured on Workplace Health and Safety Queensland’s annual farm safety calendar.

The colourful design by Kingaroy State School Year 1 student Eliza Crawford will feature on the September page in the 2020 calendar.

The theme is quad bike safety … and the importance of always wearing a helmet when riding a quad bike.

Industrial Relations Minister Grace Grace said there were more than 1700 entries in this year’s competition.

“The judges had a hard time narrowing it down to just 12 winners,” she said.

“I congratulate the students and teachers for their commitment to this annual competition and ultimately to farm safety – they are all winners!

“These youngsters are really talented with so many colourful drawings and heartfelt safety messages.”

As well as starring in the 2020 calendar, the 12 winning artists will each receive a $250 voucher, while their school gets $500.

During the next couple of months, 30,000 calendars will be distributed around Queensland.

In recent years, students from St John’s Lutheran School as well as Kingaroy, Crawford and Cooyar State schools have had their works featured on the Farm Safety calendars.
