Barambah proved too strong for Gunners in the Women’s Preliminary Final on Saturday

It will be a big day for Nanango soccer fans on Saturday with both their men’s and women’s teams contesting the Grand Finals on home turf.

The women’s game, between Nanango and Barambah, will kick off at 4:00pm at the Nanango Rugby League grounds (Fred Kassulke Oval).

This will be followed by the men’s Grand Final, between Nanango and Gunners under lights, from 6:00pm.

It’s been a strong season for the Nanango Panthers, with both teams finishing as Minor Premiers.

In the Men’s Major Semi-Final, played a fortnight ago, Nanango downed Gunners 5-1 to book their Grand Final spot.

Wests defeated Barambah 3-2 in the Minor Semi-Final, knocking the Murgon team out of contention.

Last weekend, Wests took on Gunners at Wondai to determine the second Grand Final berth.

At full-time, the scores were locked one-all, meaning the dreaded penalty shootout came into play.

Gunners won this 4-3, setting up Saturday’s Grand Final clash with the Panthers.

In the women’s competition, Nanango defeated Barambah 2-0 in the Major Semi a fortnight ago.

A penalty shootout determined the result of the Minor Semi. At full-time, Wests and Gunners were one-all. Gunners won the shootout 5-3.

On Saturday, Barambah and Gunners played off to determine the second Grand Final spot.

The Murgon women enjoyed success, winning 2-1.
