Nanango will be marking Seniors Week with free bingo games and a bonus light luncheon this year, thanks to a State Government grant.

Seniors Week runs from August 17-25 to celebrate the many contributions older people make in their communities.

On Wednesday, the Nanango RSL Sub-Branch announced they will be hosting the special event in Taras Hall next Tuesday, August 20.

“The Sub-Branch are proud to be part of Nanango’s community,” Grants Officer Noel Fischer said.

“When we saw the opportunity to host an event for our seniors, we successfully applied to the Queensland Government for funding.

“We see Seniors Week as an important way to support our seniors, and we are proud to be partnering with organisations such COTA Queensland who aim to advance the rights, interests and futures of Australians as we age.”

The Seniors Week event will start at 10:00am sharp with 25 bingo games.

There’ll be Nanango RSL club prizes up for grabs, including lucky door entry prizes, and the games will be followed by a light lunch.

Noel said the morning will be welcoming seniors from Legacy, Karinya and the Yarraman nursing home.

“There are still some spots left, but bookings are essential,” he said.

Bookings can be made by phoning the RSL on (07) 4163-1375.

A free bus will be leaving the Yarraman Bowls Club in Margaret Street at 9:00am to take Yarraman seniors to the event, and providing return transport in the afternoon.

Reservations for the concert must be made by August 16 – phone 131-872 and quote “Seniors Week 2019”.
