Murgon RSL Sub-Branch is celebrating its 100th anniversary next Saturday (August 17) with a number of events, including a free community concert.

The 30-piece band of the 1st Regiment Royal Australian Artillery will be performing a one-hour concert at Murgon Town Hall from 5:30pm.

The concert is free but tickets must be picked up before the night from the Murgon Visitor Information Centre in Lamb Street.

After the concert, an official ceremony marking the centenary of the Murgon RSL Sub-Branch will also take place in the hall.

After these two public events, a private formal dinner will be held for 170 guests (invitation only).

The Murgon RSL Sub-Branch was formed in the wake of the carnage of World War I and has been helping former Defence Force personnel ever since  … memories of some of those people and the conflicts they served in are preserved in a display in the foyer of the Murgon Services Club
