A large block of land in the Taabinga industrial estate in Kingaroy has been offered to potential developers under a special two-year lease arrangement which could lead to eventual ownership.
The 3.9ha property is located at 7 Cornish Street, opposite the South Burnett Enterprise Centre.
Under the proposal, the successful tenderer would enter into a two-year development lease “to facilitate some form of appropriate new development … in the interests of economic development”.
The tenderer must develop the land during the two-year lease.
Once the development was completed, Council would transfer the land to the successful tenderer “upon payment of consideration for that transfer”.
The tender was open from May 21 to June 14.
Tenderers were asked to nominate the type of development they proposed to carry out on the land “which should be in the nature of developing facilities comprising significant capital improvements which will support and enhance industry within the South Burnett local government area”.
Any tenders submitted would be judged against a number of criteria, including the tenderer’s ability to fund the development, the type of development proposed, its suitability for the site and an assessment of local economic impacts.
