A 20-year-old Maryborough woman died in a single-vehicle traffic crash on the New England Highway on Friday afternoon.

The incident occurred at Emu Creek, 19km north of Crows Nest.

A police spokesperson said initial investigations indicated a Mitsubishi Pajero was travelling south on the New England Highway about 4:00pm when the driver lost control.

The vehicle rolled multiple times.

A 20-year-old woman died at the scene.

Two medevac helicopters were sent to the incident and landed on the highway.

Multiple emergency crews, including police, QFES and QAS were assisting patients when the aeromedical teams arrived.

The Sunshine Coast-based RACQ LifeFlight helicopter airlifted a 46-year-old Maryborough woman to Toowoomba Hospital in a stable condition.

A 67-year-old Maryborough man was airlifted by QGAir to hospital in a stable condition.

A five-month-old boy, who was in a baby capsule and reportedly escaped serious injury, was also airlifted to hospital as a precaution by QGAir.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.
