A man is recovering in the Princess Alexandra Hospital after he was trapped for several hours in a truck rollover on the Brisbane Valley Highway on Monday morning.

Two men were in the vehicle when it left the road, rolled and crashed into trees.

The incident, which occurred on the Fernvale approach to the Wivenhoe Dam wall, was reported to emergency services at 3:41am.

One man was freed quickly from the crushed cabin but the second man remain pinned as emergency services – including critical care and high acuity response QAS paramedics – worked to free him.

An RACQ LifeFlight helicopter was despatched to the scene shortly after 5:00am and landed on the highway as close as possible to the crash site.

A LifeFlight spokesperson said the trapped man suffered multiple injuries.

He was flown to Brisbane in a serious, but stable condition.

The helicopter left the scene about 8:45am.

The highway was closed in both directions while emergency services attended the incident.
