FLASHBACK: The ceremony at last year’s Show dinner … Courtney Burrows was sashed as 2018’s
Kingaroy Miss Showgirl

April 10, 2019

The South Burnett Show Society will be raising the curtain on the 112th Kingaroy Show on Friday (April 12) with the traditional sashing of Miss Kingaroy Showgirl.

The official announcement will be made during a casual dinner at Kingaroy Showgrounds.

Show Society committee member Tim de Caluwe said as the drought was still affecting many of the region’s farms, this year the Society wanted to get back to basics.

“Our Show Dinner is the traditional curtain-raiser for the Kingaroy Show, and we’d like to see as many people as possible attend,” he said.

“But we understand times are tough, so we’ve stripped away the unnecessary frills to let us focus on giving everyone a great night out at a bargain price.”

Guests will be treated to a roast dinner and dessert, easy listening music and a licensed bar.

The highlight will be the sashing of this year’s Miss Showgirl, Rural Ambassador, Junior Miss Showgirl and Junior Rural Ambassador who will have important roles to play at the Show on May 4-5.

Later in the year, Miss Showgirl and the Rural Ambassador will take part in the Sub-Chamber finals for a chance to represent the region at the Ekka.

Tickets to this year’s Show Dinner are $20 for adults, $10 for students or $50 for a family of four (two adults and two children).

To help plan the catering, though, they must be booked by close of business on Thursday (April 11).

They can bought over-the-counter at the Show Society’s office at the showgrounds in Youngman Street or by phoning the office on (07) 4162-5800 or Roshy on 0455-897-809.

  1. Searched the internet for opening/closing times for the Kingaroy Show, could not find any information on this, would be a good idea for the show society to include the times, I am coming up for down south this weekend
