Well-known artist and teacher Sue Lederhose shared some of her painting tips with a keen group of would-be watercolourists in Kingaroy last weekend.

The group learned all about washes, practising their skills under Sue’s watchful eye in the 1913 Council Chambers.

The two-day workshop was organised by the Kingaroy Arts Team.

Sue was born in Murgon but lives these days in Mundubbera.

She took up watercolour painting in 2002 and since then has won many prizes for her works, executed in graphite, charcoal and pastel as well as watercolour.

The Kingaroy workshop was one of two watercolour workshops held in the South Burnett at the weekend.

On Saturday, Graham W. Smith – a fellow of the Royal Queensland Art Society and master pastellist with the Pastel Society of Australia – held at full-day watercolour workshop at the Wondai Regional Art Gallery.

Both workshops were booked out.

More of the eager Kingaroy workshop participants … Amy Mayer, Anne Stuart and Jane Walduck, all from Kingaroy; Julee Parker, Wondai; and Judy Cooper, Booie
