A 47-year-old Bundaberg man has been airlifted to hospital with serious injuries following a single-vehicle crash on the Burnett Highway on Wednesday afternoon.

The incident occurred five kilometres south of the intersection with Murgon-Barambah Road, near Wyalla, just after 1:30pm.

The man’s Toyota HiLux ran off the highway and struck a tree.

Traffic on the highway was reduced to a single lane while emergency services attended the scene.

The Sunshine Coast-based RACQ LifeFlight helicopter landed nearby.

After being stabilised by paramedics, the man – who suffered serious upper limb injuries – was airlifted to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital.

A LifeFlight spokesperson said he travelled in a serious but stable condition.
