A 45-year-old man from Benarkin North has died after a diving accident at Coomba Falls on Sunday afternoon.
It is believed the man suffered critical injuries after attempting to jump into the waterhole from rocks.
Paramedics were called to the scene shortly after 4:00pm.
It is the second death at the waterhole, near Maidenwell, in recent years.
A 20-year-old Highfields man drowned after jumping into the popular swimming hole in 2016.
Police will prepare a report for the Coroner.
South Burnett Regional Council has expressed its condolences following the incident.
Mayor Keith Campbell said he was saddened to hear that a Benarkin man had died.
“Our thoughts are with the man’s family and friends,” Mayor Campbell said.
“The loss of a loved one is always tragic and on behalf of South Burnett Regional Council and our community we join with the family at the time of their grief.”
Mayor Campbell visited Maidenwell on Monday to inspect the site of the tragedy.
