The Kingaroy Junior Motorcycle Speedway Club will be giving youngsters a chance to give speedway motorcycling a go for free this Sunday, February 10.

The Come & Try morning for children aged 4-16 will run from 9:00am-11:00am at the club’s track inside the main ring at Kingaroy Showgrounds.

They will be offered the chance to slide around an oval circuit on bikes with no brakes, no gears and very little suspension in a safe and controlled environment.

The event, for riders who don’t hold a current MQ licence, will be supervised by an experienced team of officials and volunteers.

All riders need to bring are their own two-wheeled motorbike (up to 140cc), boots, helmet, gloves, goggles, long pants and a long-sleeved shirt.

The club also has two 50cc PeeWee bikes and some riding gear along with a 125cc slider for guests to use if they don’t have their own bike.

New riders who participate in the Come & Try event will also be eligible to claim the 90-day free Introductory Rec licence by filling out the Come & Try licence application form, attaching their proof of age and the Come & Try licence that will be issued on the day.

Registration will start at 8:00am, with safety talk at 8:45am and rides starting at 9:00am.

Registrations will be taken throughout the morning, so participants who can’t be at the track on time won’t miss out.
