Ideas were taken from the floor at the initial Water Forum held in Kingaroy in November

February 1, 2019

A meeting of the South Burnett Water Users Group will be held from 2:00pm-4:00pm on Thursday, February 14, at the Town Common Hall in Kingaroy.

The group was formed by Mayor Keith Campbell in November last year following an announcement by the Federal Government that it would fund a $2 million joint South Burnett/North Burnett Regional Council feasibility study to investigate new infrastructure options for increased water supply and water security in the Burnett region.

The group was created at a forum called by South Burnett Regional Council to gather ideas for future water projects in the region.

Some of the suggestions put forward at this initial meeting included the construction of Barlil Weir, piping water from Paradise Dam to Bjelke-Petersen Dam and de-silting Gordonbrook Dam.

People interested in attending the South Burnett Water Users Group meeting should RSVP to Council’s Economic Development Administration Officer on (07) 4189-9100 or by email
