The South Burnett Regional Council will begin more major drainage upgrades in Blackbutt soon.

The latest project will focus on the area between the intersection of Hart and Thomas streets through to the intersection of John and George streets.

Work crews will start on Monday, December 10, and are expected to complete the project in April, weather permitting.

Works will include excavation, the installation of reinforced concrete pipes and gully pits, backfilling, kerb and channelling, and bitumen restoration.

Partial road closures will be necessary during construction. Through traffic will be controlled by signs or traffic controllers.

Motorists may experience delays and are advised to drive carefully and obey signs.

Private access will also be affected in the immediate vicinity of the construction area. Affected residents and businesses will be notified in advance by the on-site supervisor.

Further inquiries should be directed to the Council’s Customer Contact Centre on (07) 4189-9100.

The latest project follows on from a $3 million upgrade of Coulson Street’s underground stormwater system in 2015, and a $712,000 outlay on the town’s drainage, kerbing and chanelling in 2017.
