Firefighters working at Memerambi on Wednesday afternoon

Urban and rural fire crews were called to a grass fire burning close to buildings at Memerambi on Wednesday afternoon.

Emergency services were called to the scene about about 12:40pm on a property near the intersection of Oil Seeds Road and Memerambi-Cemetery Road.

At 1:05pm, QFES issued an ADVICE warning to local residents when the fire, whipped up by strong winds, started travelling east.

Kingaroy urban trucks and rural firefighters from Wattle Camp and Stuart River brigades, quickly brought the fire under control.

All crews had left the scene by 3:50pm.

Also on Wednesday afternoon, firefighters were called to a grass fire at Ficks Crossing, burning near the Bunya Highway and Kangaroo Yard Road.

At 1:00pm, there were two crews at the incident.

This fire was under control and handed back to the property owner about 3:30pm.

At 2:30pm, four fire crews were called to a fire burning near Shellytop Road at Durong.

At 3:30pm, firefighters were called to Old Esk North Road and Whitaker Road at South East Nanango after reports of a fire.

A fire was also reported during Wednesday afternoon near Cooyar-Rangemore Road at Cooyar.

A reminder that there is a Local Fire Ban in place for the South Burnett, Gympie, Toowoomba and North Burnett council areas.

Avoid using any machinery or tools that may cause a fire.

In these conditions, any fire that starts will be fast moving and unpredictable.
