An elderly man has been airlifted to PA Hospital in a critical condition after he fell into a rocky gully on Monday morning.

The incident occurred on a property north of Toowoomba.

An RACQ LifeFlight spokesperson said the man was found unconscious at the bottom of the gully by his wife after he failed to return to the house.

It is believed he slipped off a cliff which banked the creek, falling about three metres into the dry gully below.

He was transported to a local cricket field by the Queensland Ambulance where he was met by the Toowoomba-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter.
