South Burnett cricketers Courtney Sippel and Renee Irvine have been selected to play in the Under 18 Female Rookie Challenge next month.

Courtney, who is currently playing for Brisbane team Wests, has been selected in Team 1 while Renee has been picked for Team 2.

This is the third year that the Rookie Challenge has been held.

Its aim is to develop the most promising teenage female players in Queensland.

The challenge will be played on September 24-25.

The teams will play two T20 games plus a 50-over match at Wynnum-Manly Cricket Club over the two days as part of the selection process for the Under 18 squad for the National Championships in January 2019.

After the challenge, selectors will monitor the performance of all eligible players in club cricket over the following weeks before naming an Under 18 squad in late October.

Earlier this year, Courtney signed a contract to be part of the Queensland Fire squad for 2018-19.
