Firefighters are backburning to strengthen containment lines. There is no threat to property at this time.

Firefighters are still at a grass fire burning near Fitzgerald Road, the New England Highway, Logyard Road and East Cooyar Road.

They are strengthening containment lines.

There is no threat to property at this time but smoke is affecting the surrounding area.

People should call Triple Zero (000) immediately if they believe they or their property is under threat.

UPDATE: 7:05pm Sunday

The previous bushfire warning has changed.

QFES is monitoring the grass fire burning near Fitzgerald Road toward the New England Highway, Logyard Road and East Cooyar Road.

There is currently no threat to property.

The fire is burning safely within containment lines, but smoke is still affecting the area.

People should call Triple Zero (000) immediately if they believe they or their property is under threat.

EARLIER

Three unoccupied caravans and a shipping container have been destroyed by a fire burning in the Wutul / East Cooyar region on Sunday.

However, firefighters says there is no threat to further properties or structures at this stage.

At 5:40pm on Sunday, the QFES warned residents the fire was travelling in a north-easterly direction from Fitzgerald Road toward the New England Highway, Logyard Road and East Cooyar Road.

The fire was burning in inaccessible territory and firefighters were on the scene working to contain the blaze.

Heavy smoke may be affecting traffic on the highway.

The fire warning level is ADVICE which means local residents should stay informed.

You need to keep up to date and decide what actions you will take if the situation changes.

3:45pm Sunday:

A bushfire is travelling in a north-easterly direction from Dukes Road and the New England Highway towards Cooyar Rangemore Road, East Cooyar Road, Garskes Road at Cooyar.

People in the area will be affected by smoke, which will reduce visibility and air quality.

Firefighters are on scene working to contain the blaze.

Properties are not under direct threat at this time.

2:15pm Sunday:

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services issued an ADVICE alert for a fire burning in the Wutul / East Cooyar area.

The bushfire was travelling in a north-easterly direction from Dukes Road and the New England Highway towards Fitzgerald Road, East Cooyar Road and Garskes Road at Cooyar.

People in the area will be affected by smoke, which will reduce visibility and air quality.
