Police are investigating a fatal traffic crash that occurred on the Burnett Highway north of Goomeri on Sunday morning.

A police spokesman said initial information suggested a man was riding a motorcycle with a group heading north on the highway.

As the rider attempted to turn into Booinbah Roar at Boonara,  a 4WD travelling behind crashed into his bike.

A man in his 50s, believed to be from Maryborough, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.

Earlier: A man has died in a collision between a motorbike and a car on the Burnett Highway near Tansey on Sunday morning.

Emergency services were called to the scene, on the Burnett Highway, about 11:30am.

A QAS spokesperson confirmed the male rider died at the scene.

No one else was injured in the crash.

The incident blocked the Burnett Highway between Goomeri and Tansey, with police advising motorists to use Murgon-Gayndah Road as a diversion.

No further information is available.
