A woman has been flown to hospital after the car she was travelling in left the road and smashed into a tree south of Cooyar on Monday.

The Toowoomba-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter was tasked to the scene shortly before 1:00pm.

QFES used cutting equipment to free the occupants from the vehicle.

It is believed there were two other occupants inside the vehicle at the time of the crash, but their condition is not known.

The woman was transported to Toowoomba Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

Police investigations into the incident are continuing.
