The Bunya Mountains Natural History Association are asking for the public’s help to locate four missing stools.
The wooden chainsaw-cut stools, made of heavy hardwood, have stood outside the Association’s “Cedarvale” museum near the Dandabah picnic area for the past 30 years.
They went missing at some time over the weekend and their absence was only discovered Monday morning.
Association spokesperson Audrey Sampson said the disappearance of the chairs was a mystery.
“They may have been stolen by a thief – and it may not be a local thief – or this may be just a prank,” she said.
But she has appealed for anyone who knows what happened to the chairs to get in touch with the group by phoning her on (07) 4164-6198, John Learmont on 0409-625-865 or by email.
