More action from Saints v Redbacks

Despite level-pegging at the first change, the South Burnett Saints went on to record a stinging victory over the Warwick Redbacks in the Darling Downs AFL competition on Saturday.

The Saints were playing back at home, their first game in Kingaroy since Round 3 in early May.

At the end of the first quarter, the teams were locked on 16 points all but the Saints changed gears in the second to chalk up a five-goal lead at the main break.

They then romped away in the third, kicking eight goals and restricting Warwick to just one.

The final score was South Burnett 18.20 (128) to Warwick 8.11 (59).

Saints’ goals were kicked by Nathan Trace (3), Kyall Shepherd (2), Joseph Amery (2), Mitchell Francis (2), Keegan Wright (2), Jarryd Hill (2), Ben Pressnell (2), Connor Flood, Brent Snow and Kieran Askin.

The South Burnett players will be back on the road again next Saturday, taking on the undefeated competition leaders USQ Cougars in Toowoomba.

Even stevens at the end of the first quarter … it was all downhill for Warwick from here on
