Ongoing dry conditions in many parts of Queensland and NSW are having an effect on cattle local markets.

Prices were cheaper throughout for the 700 head yarded in Murgon last Tuesday.

Sale results:

  • Heavy Bulls sold to $2.15/kg for $1730
  • Bullocks topped at $2.58 and $1500
  • Cows over 500kg topped at $2.03/kg, averaging $1.93/kg
  • Cows 400–500kg averaged $1.68/kg, selling to $1.90 per kilo
  • Lighter Cows under 400kg sold to $1.53/kg
  • Droughtmaster steers from L Parke sold for $2.52/kg and $1349
  • 496kg Angus steers from G. Cruice of Mt McEuen sold for $1252 at $2.52/kg
  • Local Charbray steers weighing 432kg sold for $2.48/kg, returning $1073
  • 396kg Droughtmaster cross steers from D. Philp of Goomeri sold for $1004 at $2.53/kg
  • 355kg Santa steers from S. Harch of Nanango sold to $892 at $2.51/kg
  • Hereford cross steers from K. Grimes of Proston sold for $870 and $2.55/kg
  • Charbray weaner steers from R & F Nichol of Mt Perry sold for $838 ($2.65/kg) and $685 ($2.75/kg)
  • 280kg Droughtmaster weaner steers sold to $2.62/kg for $740
  • 423kg Droughtmaster heifers from Merlwood sold to $2.39/kg, returning $1012
  • Angus heifers from Proston weighing 345kg sold to $2.35/kg and $810
  • Limousin cross weaner heifers from S & W Steinhardt of Hivesville sold for $554 and $2.24/kg

The next Murgon sale will be held on Tuesday, June 19, at 8:00am.
