Nanango Theatre Company members Tracy Clark, Ben Richardson, Abigail Andersson, Kylie Boynton, Jocelyn Richardson and Rose Thomas are part of a cast of eight performers who’ll be bringing a unique murder-mystery to life in Nanango over the coming fortnight

Whodunnit fans will have fun trying to work out who really did it when the curtain goes up on the Nanango Theatre Company’s latest production this Friday (June 1).

Their new show “Amdram Is Murder” has four villains – but only one will be guilty at each of the show’s four performances, and the audience have to guess who it is based on clues that vary from one performance to the next.

Amdram is short for ‘amateur dramatics’, and it’s an appropriate title.

The play features members of an amateur dramatic society preparing for a period mystery when one of their cast members is murdered.

What sets this play apart from most mysteries is that the audience gets to help solve the crime.

“After interval, everyone will get a chance to question the suspects,” director Ben Richardson said.

“It will be interesting to see who can ferret out the guilty character’s secrets.”

And while spoilers are a natural concern with any mystery play, “Amdram Is Murder” has a built-in defence: four different endings.

“You can come to every performance and still not know who did it,” Ben said.

“Amdram Is Murder” will debut at the Nanango Playhouse in Elk Street, Nanango, on Friday at 7:30pm.

A matinee performance will be held on Saturday at 3:00pm; and the final two performances will be held the following Friday and Saturday, June 8-9 at 7:30pm.

Tickets are $20 for adults or $15 for concessions and can be obtained from the Nanango Visitor Information Centre in George Street, Nanango.

Some tickets may also be available at the door before each show, unless sold out.
