The annual Farm Safety Calendar competition is on again, with Workplace Health and Safety Queensland calling for entries from local schoolchildren for the 2019 edition.

The competition aims to raise awareness among primary school children and their communities about the various hazards on farms and rural properties.

Last year, more than 700 entries were received from across Queensland.

Students from South Burnett schools have cleaned up in recent years, with entries from St John’s Lutheran School and Crawford, Kingaroy and Cooyar State school collecting prizes.

Entries in the 2019 calendar competition must be lodged online by June 29, with the winners to be announced in October.

Each of the 12 winners will receive a $250 voucher and their school will receive a $500.

This year’s safety topics are quad bikes; motorbikes and machinery; animal handling; sun safety and healthy lifestyle; and kids on farms.

Details on how to enter the competition and previous winning entries are available on the WorkSafe website
