SES crews diverting traffic around the scene of a crash … volunteers spend hundreds of hours every year helping the community

May 22, 2018

Rural firefighters and State Emergency Service members are inviting the public to come along to Pioneer Park in Nanango on Saturday to celebrate National Volunteer Week.

It is an opportunity for South Burnett residents to thank the volunteer emergency services personnel who serve the Nanango district.

The event will get under way at 10:30am.

There’ll be a sausage sizzle and the fire demonstration trailer will be in action.

Blazer the Bear and Bushy the Wallaby have also promised to put in an appearance.

There will also be information handouts to help local residents become more bushfire aware.

The Rural Fire Service and the State Emergency Service are made up of volunteers who give up many hours of their time to help the community.

They are both part of the Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES).
