Firefighters have completed backburning operations at a grass fire burning near Goomeri.

The fire, near Goomeri West Road, broke out about 3:30pm on Wednesday.

Firefighters will continue to patrol the area, near Goomeribong and Silburn roads, throughout Thursday.

A 40-year-old Kingaroy man was taken to hospital with minor injuries after his vehicle hit a cow on the Wide Bay Highway near Kilkivan on Tuesday night.

The vehicle sustained major damage.

The man was taken by road ambulance to Gympie Hospital.

Firefighters were called to a grass fire at Parker Road at Ellesmere on Wednesday afternoon.

The fire was quickly contained and the area will be monitored over the next few days.

Children have been blamed for a break-in at the Yidding Art Studio in Cherbourg at the weekend.

The art studio – the former QCWA building – is part of The Ration Shed complex.

A glass panel was smashed and items strewn around the interior of the building.
