Burrandowan Picnic Race Club presented a cheque for $6890 to the LifeFlight Foundation last month … and it’s keen to raise even more dollars for the life-saving charity this weekend.

The cheque was from the proceeds of the 2017 race day, and the club has decided to again devote its fundraising on race day to LifeFlight.

“RACQ LifeFlight do an amazing job for our community, and none of us know when we might need their help,” race club president Brendan McCormack said.

“Each of their call outs cost about $12,500 so this is just a small contribution toward the work they do, and we are very proud to support this work.

“We love supporting local charities and do this by having Lions, Rotary, the local P&Cs and other charities involved on race day.”

Last year was a record year for LifeFlight, which performed 5344 missions.

The annual Burrandowan picnic races attract punters, fashionistas and families from all over south-east Queensland.

It’s on again this Saturday (May 12)  with the day kicking off at 9:00am with clay target and Race 1 at 1:30pm.
