Rugby league fans who’d like to spend an evening in the company of famous league players Bryan Niebling, Steve Renouf and Trevor Gillmeister should pencil May 17 into their diaries now.

The Murgon Business and Development Association (MBDA) have invited the three legends to Murgon’s Royal Hotel for a one-off State Of Origin Night.

Guests can get to enjoy canapes, a main course, and dessert as they listen to each of the three guests recount insights from their illustrious careers.

They can also inspect the State of Origin Shield, which the trio will be bringing with them.

Tickets are $60 per head and will be strictly limited to 100, and they can be obtained at the Royal Hotel and the Murgon Newsagency.

“This will be one of the best nights of entertainment seen in Murgon for years,” MBDA committee member Mark Smith said.

“Tickets will sell out quickly, so I’d advise everyone who wants to come to get in fast.”

Proceeds of the night will be applied to help cover the losses of the town’s 2017 Christmas Carnival, which was rained out last December for the second year in a row.

The MBDA are now considering moving the carnival from the early evening to the middle of the day to avoid summer thunderstorms.
