The CEO of the North Burnett Regional Council will move south in late June to become the new CEO of the South Burnett Regional Council.
Mr Mark Pitt resigned from his current position on Wednesday at a North Burnet Regional Council meeting in Monto.
He said he was very appreciative of all the councillors and staff he had worked with in the North Burnett.
He also appreciated the support he had received from the North Burnett’s communities, and wished that region well.
Mr Pitt said he had enjoyed his nine years with the Council, but was excited about the opportunities and challenges he would face in the South Burnett.
He will replace current CEO Gary Wall.
Mr Wall announced last December he intended to retire on July 5 after a 47-year career in local government spent with the former Kingaroy Shire Council and South Burnett Regional Council.
The CEO position will be a step up for Mr Pitt.
The North Burnett Regional Council covers a geographic area more than double the size of the South Burnett, but only has about one-third of the South Burnett’s population.
Mr Pitt was last in the news in December 2014 when he was seriously injured after being struck by a car while on a family holiday in the United States.
Mr Pitt was an active member of Rotary at the time, and before his accident had attended a meeting of the Santa Clarita Rotary Club in California.
