The Department of Transport and Main Roads will be starting work this month to rehabilitate a section of the Chinchilla-Wondai Road through Durong.

The Department will also rehabilitate a 2km section of the Mundubbera-Durong Road north of the Chinchilla-Wondai Road intersection.

The project aims to strengthen both roads to make them safer for motorists and heavy vehicle operators; to improve the longevity of the road pavement; and to minimise the need for future maintenance.

RoadTek will carry out the work between 6:00am and 6:00pm Mondays to Fridays.

During construction, motorists can expect speed restrictions, lane closures, and minor delays, and are urged to drive to any changed conditions and obey all signage and traffic controllers’ directions.

No parking will be permitted on the road shoulders within works sites during working hours to ensure the safety of motorists and prevent vehicle damage.

Vehicle access to private properties may also be temporarily restricted for short periods of time, and affected property owners will be advised where possible.

The project is expected to be completed by late this year, weather permitting.
