Some of the best junior speedway riders from Queensland and interstate will be coming to Kingaroy on Saturday for the third annual John Titman Golden Steel Shoe Challenge.

Sponsor John Titman is a speedway star in his own right, riding for some of the top English teams as well as representing Australia on numerous occasions.

In addition to starring at the top tracks in England and Australia, John also raced in Poland and New Zealand.

He made the world final on two occasions, finishing eighth in 1978 and ninth in 1979. He also rode in longtrack speedway, reaching the world final in 1983 and 1984.

Why “steel shoe”? Just watch how the riders use their left feet when cornering …

John will be coming to Kingaroy to present the Gold, Silver and Bronze steel shoe trophies to the winners of the 125cc and 250cc events.

Racing will start 11:00am at the Kingaroy Junior Motorcycle Speedway Club’s track inside Kingaroy Showground.

Entry is free for all spectators.
